Our dishwasher went out on us earlier this week. Also when we got home from the cabin we had no hot water pressure in the up stair shower. The dishwasher is an easy fix, go buy a new one. The shower I wasn't sure what to do, so we called Jeff Park for help. He told us to change the cartridge in the handle, easy enough; so I thought.
Friday Liana and I went out to purchase a new dishwasher. Several stores later we came home with a new fridge and chair. It's a long story but we got a great deal. Any way part of the deal with the fridge was that we needed to bring it home and set it up. No problem I thought. They loaded it up and we brought it home. When Liana and I went to unload it I thought I was going to get a hernia and Liana's arms were going to pop off. So we stopped and went and found some neighbors. After getting it down and removing screen door stuff we finally got it in the house. We moved the old fridge and cleaned everything out. we had to unhook the water. Liana thought she had turned the water off (To her defence because of the hard water deposits it wouldn't turn off) and unhooked the hose. Lets just say water went everywhere. After standing in front of a shooting stream of water and me running for the first time in ten years to shut off the main water, the kitchen looked like a pool. We finally hooked the water up to the new fridge and pushed it back into place. Liana and I moved the old fridge to the garage. I don't know why we thought the two of us could move the old one if we couldn't move the new one. With it being 11:30 at night we couldn't call the neighbors. So with ingenuity that would of made the ancient Egyptians proud we finally got it out the front door. We finally made it to bed around 1:30.
The next morning we woke up to another puddle in the kitchen. The new fridge has a leek. We called to get it fixed but they are 5 days out. We found the leek and it was nothing we could fix. So we turning off the main water, put a cap on the water outlet and we'll wait until Thursday to get it fixed.
The next day we went to sears and bought a new dishwasher. Only problem is that it's two weeks away from being delivered. No problem though. The kids are awesome dishwashers. After Sunday dinner I am really wondering if we need the new dishwasher, the kids will do fine. When I got home I decided to change the cartridge in the shower. No problem I thought, just pull it out and put the new one back in. Well remember the hard water? It had fused the cartridge into place. It wasn't as simple as I thought. After having Cody, another neighbor come help, almost pulling the pipes through the wall, and three hours later we got it out. The new one didn't go in any easier and when we finally got it in the hot and cold had switched and there was a constant flow of water dripping out of the faucet. I told Liana I'm through with these projects. I'm willing to pay to have them done and done right. Needless to say Jeff and April are coming over tonight to fix my mess and we are looking into a soft water system. I'm tired of the hard water mess.
